Greg Staley
Commander American Legion Post 140

Greg served 22 years with the Arizona Army National Guard. He retired in 1996. He served in a variety of positions during his career.

During his 22 years in the Guard. He was assigned as a heavy equipment mechanic, section chief, platoon sergeant, training sergeant, logistics sergeant, and retired as a First Sergeant with a Field Artillery Brigade. Greg received several awards during his career, U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal (3), U.S. Army Commendation Medal (3), Distinguished Graduate (2), and the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara, to name a few. Greg has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management.

After retiring, Greg went to work for the State of Washington. He started as a Disaster Recovery Planner for a the Labor Department. Greg was the lead writer for the Y2K plan as part of a planning team. He later moved to the Department of Health to become the Safety, Security, and Emergency Manager. He was responsible for eight offices around the state. He developed emergency plans, conducted training, and conducted safety and security inspections. Greg retired in 2018 and moved back to Arizona to help family. 

Greg has been married to his wife Dianna for 47 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren. Greg and Dianna enjoy traveling, fishing, hunting, and kayaking.
